Inspired by both Sara Dobie’s list and the list created by my friend Rebecca before she left Charleston (in which I first visited Bowen’s Island Restaurant), I am writing a post on the things I must do before I move away. It’s really sad to think about, but I’m doing my best to be a tourist in my own town.
- Visit the Hunley (check)
- Do the Cooper River Bridge Run
- Go to the CofC homecoming basketball game (this weekend!)
- Visit Mepkin Abbey
- Ride Clyde the Cougar
- Have drinks at sunset at a rooftop bar
- Visit the Charleston Museum
- Visit Charles Towne Landing
- Visit Colonial Dorchester NHS
- Visit the
Charleston Tea Plantationand Firefly Distillery Visit the USS Yorktown- Go to an improv night
- Go on an art walk
- Go to at least one Food + Wine festival event (missed it)
There is also a restaurant list that I need to go to before I graduate but also need people to go with me! Also let me know if I forgot any of your personal favorites.
- Rue de Jean
- Al di La
- Cru Cafe
- The Mustard Seed (by suggestion of the King family!)
- Magnolia’s
- FIG
- McCrady’s
- Poogan’s Porch
- Trattoria Lucca
- Huck’s Lowcountry Table
- Fat Hen
- EVO (for the pork trifecta, duh)
- Madra Rua
- Sesame
- Jack’s Cosmic Dogs
- La Fourchette
- Sermet’s Corner
- Voodoo
So let me know if you want to be a part of any of this. You have until the end of May!
Good list! Let's see… There's an art walk this weekend. Don't miss drinks at Rooftop at sunset — they have a good happy hour. Rue has half-price burgers on Sunday. EVO is a must, as is FIG and Trattoria Lucca. Fat Hen for brunch. I wasn't particularly impressed with Magnolias, Sesame, or Sermet's. <3, Erica
The Rooftop Bar at the Vendue Inn is the best for watching the sunset! Don't miss it..
Can you do tomorrow Tuesday, 9th at McCradys? I can take a guest to test their new bar menu between 5 – 7. Email me at: charlestonjoan@gmail.com and I will forward the info.
