This week’s Favorite Travel Memory is by the lovely Connie of Connvoyage.com!
When I was traveling in India, I met a family who invited me to one of their son’s wedding in a few weeks. I have always wanted to attend an Indian wedding (the colors, the festivities, the food!) but it would have caused a logistical problem in terms of my travel in India.
A few days later, I was lucky enough to meet another family and spent an afternoon with them. I told them about my invitation to the wedding and how I really wanted to go. I asked if it would be appropriate for me to wear a sari if I did attend (I’ve always wanted to wear a sari) and asked if they would mind helping me pick one out (even though I was still debating whether or not I should go), though we never got around to it.
The next morning, I went over to the family’s house to say goodbye and they gifted me with a gorgeous yellow sari to wear to the wedding! I was moved to tears! They quickly rushed to help me put a matching petticoat, blouse and bangle bracelets. After all this, I decided that I just HAD to attend the wedding!

That sounds like a wonderful trip. It's great that you were outgoing and curious enough to meet and befriend locals.
