Read This Blog: Travel Yourself

Behind the blog: Travel Yourself is a solo travel show by host and Canadian filmmaker Cailin O’Neil. You may also have seen her travels on her blog Cailin Travels. She’s always up for a meetup and seems to know someone in every country! After our night at Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese in London, I knew I had to feature her and hopefully meet again in Australia!

What’s in a name?: “I wish I had a cool story to tell you! I wanted my site and travel TV show to be obviously travel related but I also wanted to go with the solo travel angle, so basically “traveling by yourself” but I wanted it to sound less wordy I guess? So I decided on ‘Travel Yourself’ but I also like it because its kind of like a kick in the butt ‘travel yourself!’ and relates nicely to ‘Go $%&! yourself’ which is kind of a get-out-there-and-just-do-it attitude. Oh boy is this making any sense? Haha. The answer to this question for Cailin Travels is quite simple – its about me traveling :)”-CO

Why should you read?: “Tough question. I like to think that I have fairly original/unique content. I try to be witty and keep people amused. Also travel is truly one of my biggest passions and I am dying to share every bit of it with anyone who will listen, so its your passion to I would like to think my site will have a lot of what you are interested in. I like to think my blog is a bit different to as I am making it a vlog. I think the idea of ‘bloggers’ is huge right and I feel like vlogging is the next big thing and fingers crossed I hope I’m on the right track :)”-CO

Favorite posts: “One of my favorite posts by far has to be my Small World Moments post. I still can’t believe all of the times that I have been half way around the world and I literally by accident run into someone that I know. However my most favorite of all posts had of been the one when I first released the trailer for my Travel TV show Travel Yourself – I am very proud at what I was able to accomplish and what I will be able to accomplish now in the future :)”

“Most recently on Cailin Travels my Procrastination post would have to be my favorite. It makes me angry how much I procrastinate but obviously I have no one to blame about myself, however I am happy to say that we are half way through the first week of the New Year and I don’t think I’ve procrastinated!…. yet ;)”-CO

What are your favorite blogs to read?: “I don’t use an RSS reader so I am basically drawn to people’s blogs because they are friends or I’m googling something or I see a link on twitter. I frequent Candice Does the World for the entertainment and Candice’s writing and the freshness of it too. That girl is not afraid to say anything! We met through twitter and met in person for the first time in May and I must say she is one of my BFFs4life hahaha. I also love visiting The Planet D. Dave and Deb were some of the first people I met through twitter and I have watched their blog grow in to magnificent monster that it is today over the past almost 2 years. I also feel like I really connect with them because they use to work in the Film and TV biz like I do currently and I love everything they do and am proud of them for what they have been able to accomplish in the past year. Everyone should check out Dave’s amazing photography too! Oh and of course Caroline in the City ;) I’m loving the new design!”-CO
