While most people go to Los Angeles in search of movie stars, the islands of Hawaii have served as a backdrop for countless movies and television shows throughout the years, including the new Hawaii 5-0.
Northshore Hawaii Filming Locations
Turtle Bay Resort
On our third day on Oahu, we drove to the North Shore and checked into the award-winning Turtle Bay Resort, which I had read about on Camels and Chocolate. It was the primary filming location for the movie Forgetting Sarah Marshall. It was hard to recognize many places from the film, but I did notice the Yoga Pavilion, which is actually the Wedding Pavilion.
The front desk used is actually a coffee stand. You can check out the resort and its restaurants even if you aren’t a guest. (57-091 Kamehameha Highway, Kahuku, (808) 293-6000)
Hukilau Cafe
If you take a left out of the hotel and continue along Highway 83, you will come across a side street that is home to Hukilau Cafe, a cozy burger joint featured in 50 First Dates. While interior shots were filmed elsewhere, the Hukilau Burger brings back tourists and locals alike, as Adam Richman of Man vs. Food found out on his visit there. (55-662 Wahinepe’e St, Laie, (808) 293-8616)
Kualoa Ranch
Ten minutes further down the road, the trees open up and the prehistoric mountains emerge. On your right will be Kualoa Ranch. For $23 USD, you can take a bus through the property to see where Jurassic Park, Lost, Pearl Harbor, Godzilla and 50 First Dates were filmed. Alternative tour options include jungle, 4WD and horse tours, as well as the famous Lost tour.

I so want to do a LOST tour :-) When the show was still going, a friend went for her honeymoon and went to a few of the eateries the cast frequented!
