On my World Heritage tour before the Travel Bloggers Unite conference in Porto, our guide took us to Lello Bookstore, one of the most beautiful in the world for its Art Nouveau design.
JK Rowling, author of none other than Harry Potter, spent time here while teaching English in the 1990s. You can see where she gathered inspiration from, particularly the winding staircase and stunning stained glass.
The owners don’t like pictures taken since the former local spot is now overrun with sneaky tourists like myself. At least buy a book if you can or even a coffee.

It’s almost not fair for bookstores to be this pretty. It just doesn’t let other types of stores stand a chance.

What an amazing place! Beautiful. I’ll certainly be checking it out if I’m ever in the area.

Awesome looking staircase! Wouldn’t have any trouble purchasing a book there I’m sure!
