As the summer is winding down, I can’t believe how little I have been out in the sun. My “summer” is typically in April and September, as I work every June and July. Back in April, I had my Ultimate Florida Road Trip, which took me from St. Augustine to Key West and back, soaking in what the state had to offer.
It’s nicknamed the Sunshine State for a reason, as you’ll never see as beautiful of sunrises and sunsets as you see here. These photos are a few of my favorites from my trip.
Cocoa Beach– My favorite thing I did while in Florida’s Space Coast, apart from meeting a real live astronaut, was the sunset kayaking tour through the Merritt Wildlife Refuge with A Day Away Tours. The nearly two hour drive out to the mosquito-infested island was well worth it to see the manatees and this sunset.
Fort Lauderdale– Without any better or cheaper options, I found myself a deal online for the Hilton Fort Lauderdale Marina hotel. It was a fantastic hotel, despite having to pay for parking and wireless Internet, especially the sunset from my balcony that became my office during my two night stay.
Key Largo– On the first night of the Humphrey Bogart Film Festival, people were gathered around the docks at the Key Largo community center for one of the most stunning sunsets I’ve ever seen. There was hardly any differentiation between the orange and blue hues on the sky and water.
Key West– I reached the end of my trip with a few days in Key West, which happened to fall on Cinco de Mayo. I didn’t want to go to a bar alone, so I used my VIP pass from the visitor’s center to hop on a booze cruise. The sunset sail included appetizers and a cash bar, but I was also the youngest person on board by a good twenty years and was also the only non-crew member not to be coupled up. But I couldn’t deny how beautiful these views were.

Oh wow! You captured beautiful photos of Florida. Sunsets in Florida must be a perfect view and I just love the way you captured everything. I can’t wait to be in Florida next month with kids and I’m hoping to see these sunsets in Florida. Thanks for sharing!
