I’ve come to look forward to these monthly posts about what I’m into beyond travel because there’s so much more to my life than where I go, despite the fact that it’s something I love. It’s funny how many people respond with their obsessions or agree with mine! As with last month, I’m sharing the things I’m obsessed with at the moment. Thanks for following along! Be sure to share what you’re loving this month below!

Reading
I just finished Big Magic and, yes, it was as good as everyone says it is! I’m also trying to finally finish The Night Circus after trudging through it for the better part of a year. I’m also on the third graphic novel issue of The Walking Dead, which I hope to finish in time for the new season this Sunday!!
In travel news, I’m reading Lonely Planet’s Central America on a Shoestring for a trip this fall. What else should I be reading? Let me know below. And to see what I’m reading, check out my Goodreads Profile here.
Listening
I downloaded the new Sia album and am OBSESSED. Songs like “Move Your Body” and “Unstoppable” make me want to work out. I jammed to the Otis Redding Pandora station the other day to get me out of a funk. The Real Talk Radio podcast is back for another season as well. Any other things I should listen to?
Watching
I’ve only watched a few episodes of Making a Murderer and instead got sucked into the kick-ass Jessica Jones. Now that I finished the first season, my life has no meaning. I’ve also watched a few episodes of Chelsea Does… What are your Netflix obsessions? I know there are plenty to add to my list! I also just started watching American Crime Story and despite some of the rather bizarre choices (John Travolta’s eyebrows!), it’s very good.
Loving
For Christmas, I got a few pairs of shoes and a faux leather jacket, but it’s finally gotten warm enough to wear around my Birkenstock Madrids. The stylish slides go with just about everything and will soon be my favorite travel shoes. I’m also loving the rowing classes at American Row House, a studio not far from my house. The workouts cover your whole body, from the legs and arms to your core. I bought a membership for fairly cheap and the first class was free.
I’m also loving spending time with some of my Atlanta friends. The group of us is all connected in some way with the travel industry. We grabbed dinner last weekend at an Indian restaurant in Decatur, complete with draft cocktails. Yum!
Working
In the past month, I took the long-overdue leap from part-time to full-time writer. It’s been really terrifying, especially as I put together my taxes, make expensive car repairs, and pay my health insurance, but also good. I firmly believe that I needed to clear out the unnecessary stuff in my life (read: my backup job) to make room for better, more exciting things. It’s made me pitch without abandon, not as worried about rejection as I had been before.
Luckily, I’ve received some emails about upcoming work. I’ve got some upcoming stories for an airline blog, a wedding website and hopefully more for an online adventure magazine and a retail trade publication. See what I’m working on via my Contently profile.
Traveling
In January, I went to New York City and had a fantastic trip mingling with blogger friends, catching up with friends and seeing one of my favorite cities. I also brought my parents on a day trip to Macon to go on the Rock Candy music tours. I highly recommend it!
I’m currently writing this post from Albany, a city in the south end of Georgia. Next up is a wedding in Knoxville, Tennessee next weekend and a week in North Carolina at the beginning of March.
