As I mentioned in a previous post, I’ll be in the Dominican Republic twice this month. They’re two very different trips, as this one will mostly be spent in the city of Santo Domingo with a small amount of time in a rural area. I’m also leaving straight from there to go to Arkansas, so this is an especially tricky trip to pack for.

What I’m packing for the Dominican Republic isn’t exactly the same as what I’m packing for Arkansas, so I’ve thrown in extra items. I’m going carry-on only, as I have a tight connection in Atlanta and don’t want to risk it. I’ll be taking my Hartmann Lineaire suitcase and my PacSafe Slingsafe GIII as my personal item.
In addition to my standard Eagle Creek packing cubes, I’ll be testing out the Origami Unicorn travel undergarment organizer. The hanging bag has three compartments to protect your bras from getting squished and has tiny pockets for underwear and swimsuits.
In my suitcase I’ve packed:
- 3 dresses
- skirt and top outfit
- 2 swimsuits
- 1 pair of pants
- 1 pair of Pins to Kill leggings
- 2 pairs of shorts, one denim and one athletic
- 1 rain jacket
- running shoes
- Birkenstock Madrid sandals
- Converse All Stars
- Topshop open toed sandals
- 2 tank tops
- 1 nice top
- 1 sarong
- undergarments
- 1 baseball hat
- snacks
- Brene Brown’s Rising Strong
- business cards
- Spanish-English dictionary
- toiletries
In my backpack, I’ve packed:
- Kindle Fire
- Wet Wipes
- small purse with wallet, passport, etc.
- GoPro and camera gear
- magazines
Anything else I should add to my packing list for the Dominican Republic (and Arkansas)?
