I’ve come to look forward to these monthly posts about what I’m into beyond travel because there’s so much more to my life than where I go, despite the fact that it’s something I love. It’s funny how many people respond with their obsessions or agree with mine! As with last month, I’m sharing the things I’m obsessed with at the moment. Thanks for following along! Be sure to share what you’re loving this month below!

Reading
I finished The Hate U Give and agree with all the reviews: it’s excellent and a true testament to the writer’s talent for it to be such a success as a first book. Then I quickly read The Vagina Monologues, appropriate for V-Day, and completed March: Book Three. Now I’m going back and re-reading books I never finished, starting with Atonement. To see what else I’m reading, check out my Goodreads Profile here (which is also my author page!).
Listening
Because of some long drives recently, I used them as an opportunity to try a few new podcasts. One is The Trip, a travel podcast created by Roads and Kingdoms, one of my favorite publications. Another is Disgraceland, which combines true crime with rock history including episodes on Jerry Lee Lewis and Sid Vicious.
And in terms of music, is there anything better than the Black Panther soundtrack? I think not. I’ve also been enjoying the new songs by Brandi Carlisle (who I’m going to see in April!) Kimbra, and ZZ Ward. When I was in Nashville, I picked up a Jack White acoustic album from his record store that I’m listening to as well.
Watching
Let’s just start with the most important one. If you haven’t seen Black Panther, change that immediately. I got to go to the early release that was attended by the crew, students from the local historically black colleges, and special guests. Appearances were made by Samuel L. Jackson and Representative John Lewis. I cried.
When I was staying at my tiny house in Asheville, the house didn’t have cable, just Apple TV with Hulu. This was my chance to watch all the shows, including Dawson’s Creek and Unreal, my latest addiction. I ended up buying Hulu just to keep watching. My favorite local shows, The Walking Dead and Atlanta, have just returned.
Loving
I’m not much of a makeup girl, usually sticking to a little bit of eyeliner and mascara, BB cream, and some sort of lip tint. This month I received two shades of Covergirl’s new Melting Pout Matte Liquid Lipstick in nude and pale pink shades, which perfectly suited my complexion. There’s also a glitz top coat that adds a bit of sparkle.
Traveling
I never mean for my travel plans to take over the month, but it always happens that way. At the beginning of February, I was in Panama City, Florida for their Mardi Gras festivities. I also enjoyed a little getaway to Asheville where I treated myself to some much-needed self care, at at some great restaurants, and spent some time working.
Next up was an overnight stay in Chattanooga before two days in Nashville for a blogging project. It had been six years since I was there so I tried to fit in as much as possible.
Working
I’ve been blessedly busy after turning in my book at the end of 2017. Before the holidays, I was hired to do a handful of assignments that got be through the beginning of the year. And now they’ve been published! My work with the 2018 Golden Isles visitor guide can now be seen online and at welcome centers near the Georgia coast.
A piece for Atlanta Magazine went live and so did my first story for Marriott Traveler. I’m still doing plenty of work for Explore Georgia as well. See what else I’m working on via my Contently profile.
