If you’re a single girl in your twenties, you’re sure to attend a bachelorette party, or weekend, at some point. I’ve been to my fair share and even planned one. So I’ve taken what I’ve learned to put together this post on how to have your own pre-bridal bash in Asheville, also known as Beer City USA.

Where to Eat in Asheville
While not nationally known like the food scene in Charleston (yet), Asheville’s restaurants put a heavy emphasis on what is local and seasonal. Chain restaurants don’t really have a place here, so you can be sure you’re supporting the local economy. Most places are fairly casual and reservations aren’t needed or aren’t taken.
Best for breakfast
Biscuit Head has two locations in town and serves up the South’s most iconic pastry with jam, fried chicken, and everything in between. West Asheville’s Sunny Point Cafe has long waits on the weekend, so skip the lines for weekday breakfast. At Early Girl Eatery, “farm to table” is more than just a catchphrase. The menu has both vegetarian and traditional Southern dishes.
Best for lunch
My go-to for a quick but tasty lunch in Asheville is White Duck Taco Shop, based in the trendy River Arts District. They serve quirky varieties like Korean beef and duck mole. Grab a healthy meal at Rosetta’s Kitchen & The Buchi Bar, which serves vegetarian and vegan soul food as well as kombucha. Chai Pani is a local favorite serving modern Indian cuisine.
Best for dinner
Easily the top-rated restaurant in town, Cúrate is known for Spanish-style tapas. Settle in for an East Carolina meat feast at Buxton Hall Barbecue, helmed by a James Beard-nominated chef. Table Asheville is another place that takes “farm to table” to new heights. Share a few plates between friends.
Best for brunch
Tupelo Honey Cafe has long been a mainstay in the Asheville dining scene and now has locations around the South. If you can, head to their suburban location for shorter wait times. Over Easy Cafe serves breakfast dishes, salads, and smoothies. Or grab brunch to enjoy in your room from Hole Doughnuts.

What to Do in Asheville
While Charleston is best for shopping and beach time, Asheville is ideal for non-traditional treatments and outdoor exploration. Even those who aren’t outdoorsy can find a hike that suits them.
For active bachelorettes
There are plenty of yoga studios, but Asheville Community Yoga has a variety of donation-based classes. Wai Mauna Asheville SUP Tours and Paddleboard Rentals offer a fun way to see the river. The North Carolina Arboretum gets you close to nature without lacing up your hiking boots.
But there are plenty of beginner-friendly hikes in Pisgah National Forest. Navitat Canopy Adventures is another adventurous way to see the Asheville area, this time by fast-paced zipline.
For pampered bachelorettes
Shoji Spa & Lodge offers hiking trails with treatments at the end or the traditional hot pools that overlook Pisgah National Forest. They’re BYO and available per hour.
Asheville Salt Cave is a unique experience where you relax in a dark room full of Himalayan salt crystals, which are said to have healing effects. The Spa at Omni Grove Park also offers more traditional massages and treatments. The Atrium offers blow outs before your night on the town.
For boozy bachelorettes
You could spend your entire stay just drinking at the area’s wineries, breweries, and distilleries. The winery at Biltmore Estate is included with your admission and offers tastings of their varieties. Noble Cider is an area cidery, while Asheville Distilling Company is a female-owned distillery.
There are countless breweries nearby, but New Belgium Brewing Company and Wicked Weed Brewing are the most well-known. Asheville Brews Cruise offers tours to area breweries, or you can go on a walking tour of the downtown breweries.
For bucket list bachelorettes
Biltmore Estate is a must-see if you’ve never been, especially for their exhibits on costumes from Titanic and Downton Abbey. Browse the exhibits at the Asheville Art Museum or play a few rounds at the Asheville Pinball Museum. Top it all off with a visit to French Broad Chocolate Lounge.
Where to Drink in Asheville
The Asheville party scene isn’t rowdy but is better for chilling out with some local beers. Most bars close by 2 am, which is a good time to bring the party back to your room.
For craft cocktails
Toast with swanky drinks from Top of the Monk, a cocktail bar that has an extensive selection of whiskey and bourbon. The Double Crown doesn’t look like much but has a unique menu of cocktails. Go for the views at The Montford Rooftop Bar, but stay for the drinks.
For bubbles and wine
Combining the best things in life, Battery Park Book Exchange is part bookstore, part wine bar. Head here after dinner for a bottle of bubbly. District Wine Bar in the River Arts District has plenty of bottles and pop-up restaurants. 5 Walnut Wine Bar is another neighborhood favorite with live music.
For craft beer
If you haven’t had enough craft beer during the day, visit beer-centric pubs like Jack of the Wood, Thirsty Monk, and the Wicked Weed Funkatorium, which serves the brewery’s barrel and kettle-aged sours. All are located downtown and easily walkable.
For dancing
There isn’t much of a traditional “nightclub” scene, so you’re better off catching a live music act at The Orange Peel. You can also shake it off at The Underground or watch the drag show at Scandals Nightclub.
Where to Stay in Asheville
There’s an accommodation style for every budget and group in Asheville. If you’re prepared to splurge, there’s nowhere better than The Omni Grove Park Inn, a historic hotel that hosted famous writers and past presidents. Shoji Spa and Lodge has their own Japanese-inspired accommodations on the same property as the spa.
Hotel Indigo Asheville Downtown is in the middle of the action, within walking distance of bars and restaurants and with a rooftop bar. Asheville Glamping has quirky options like yurts, domes, and the Insta-worthy vintage Airstream trailers. Airbnb is a good resource if you want to rent a cabin outside the city.
Additional Advice
Pick a designated driver in advance and don’t risk it on those mountain roads! There’s also rideshare apps in town to help you get around. There’s not much of a dress code in most places, so don’t feel like you need to buy a new outfit. Comfort is key! If you’re staying in a rental, bring a few snacks and items for in between meals.
Plan for an early night on Friday since everyone will likely be traveling. This is the perfect time to enjoy games and chill drinks. I found this wedding-style Cards Against Humanity (Cads Against Matrimony) that was a hit with the group. I printed it off at home and cut up the cards myself for free. At other bachelorette parties, we’ve done the game where you guess which pair of panties represents which guest and the bride keeps them all.
You can also create your own photobooth and use the Podo as your camera with help from Pinterest. Keep the party going with this awesome playlist from PopSugar. Pick up some custom temporary tattoos to keep your group together as well as some phallic paraphernalia online. Make a Snapchat filter to document your trip.
