I’ve come to look forward to these monthly posts about what I’m into beyond travel because there’s so much more to my life than where I go, despite the fact that it’s something I love. It’s funny how many people respond with their obsessions or agree with mine! As with last month, I’m sharing the things I’m obsessed with at the moment. Thanks for following along! Be sure to share what you’re loving this month below!

Reading
It may be safe to say that I’m not going to accomplish my Goodreads Reading Challenge this year. I’m still reading Quiet, paused on Kitty Genovese, started The Road to Jonestown and just purchased Helter Skelter. Can we say I have a type? During my trip to North Carolina, I quickly read Shopgirl, which I actually enjoyed after not liking the movie. To see what else I’m reading, check out my Goodreads Profile here (which is also my author page!).
Listening
I am so excited for the second season of Up and Vanished, which just released its second episode, because the disappearance is set in an area of Colorado connected with cults and new religious movements. Look it up on Reddit and you’ll be fascinated.
I also read a blog post about recommended podcasts for writers and freelancers, which led me to Longform, interviews with notable longform writers and journalists, and Bad with Money, a podcast about managing finances.
Watching
There have been some changes over on Fear the Walking Dead, including the killing off of major characters, so I’m still trying to figure out if I’ll keep watching. But I also watched the final Hulu-only season of UnReal, which was everything I wanted and more, except that it was shorter. I’m looking forward to the return of Ozark, especially after listening to an interview with Jason Bateman.
Loving
Fall means concert season! Last week, I went to see Leon Bridges at a beloved outdoor venue in Atlanta and I’m looking forward to seeing St. Paul and the Broken Bones again at the Fox Theater, a setting unlike any other.
Working
After stressing about not having enough work last month, I pitched like a crazy person, both stories and content work. That hard work paid off since I had half a dozen stories due before Labor Day. I’m just glad that these projects appeared at just the right time.
My story about a coffee shop in Boone was published by Sprudge, another for Eagle Creek was about adventure activities in Israel, an essay on the Inca Trail for Ravishly, a story about a couple who designs for celebs for Jezebel, and one more about Atlanta’s food scene for Hilton Hotels.
Now I’m working on some projects for Explore Georgia as well as upcoming stories for TripAdvisor, Fodor’s, Frommer’s, Lonely Planet, and 17 South. I’m still not sure about my book’s release date, but if you haven’t you pre-order on Amazon. See what else I’m working on via my Contently profile (and hire me!).
Traveling
It was a busy month for travels, starting with my short stay in the North Carolina Smokies at The Swag. From there, I went to Universal Orlando Resort for the opening of the Aventura Hotel with my Blog Squad colleagues.
As soon as that was over, I rented a car for a quick 24 hour trip to Sarasota to celebrate a friend’s birthday, despite the Red Tide. I returned home long enough to rent another car and drive to the North Carolina coast for another media visit. Needless to say, I’m exhausted.
I’m thankful for some much-needed down time over the next few weeks, starting with spending Labor Day weekend in Chattanooga. From there, I’m looking at a quick trip to Durham, North Carolina next week, followed by my very first trip to Austin, Texas for the TravelCon conference, which will essentially be a blogger high school reunion. Expect no sleep and lots of eating and drinking from me!
Travel Visa Canada says
