I’ve come to look forward to these monthly posts about what I’m into beyond travel because there’s so much more to my life than where I go, despite the fact that it’s something I love. It’s funny how many people respond with their obsessions or agree with mine! As with last month, I’m sharing the things I’m obsessed with at the moment. Thanks for following along! Be sure to share what you’re loving this month below!

Reading
I finished reading both On Writing and Quiet just before the end of the year, but didn’t finish my challenge in time. This year, I’m treating dating like a course and am reading a lot of books about sex and relationships, especially those recommended by friends and my therapist. I’m currently reading Come As You Are and It’s Just a Fking Date. To see what else I’m reading, check out my Goodreads Profile here (which is also my author page!).
Listening
I decided last year that I wanted to find my community here in the Atlanta with the same interests. I joined a meetup group of fellow true crime podcast fans and we meet up to discuss one every month. This month’s was Bear Brook, which was incredible and I highly recommend.
They also got me into Broken Harts. I also got into We Met at Acme, a dating podcast. I’m also happy to hear the return of 99X, Atlanta’s beloved rock radio station that went away for many years.
Watching
Did you see that finale of Dirty John? I listened to the podcast and despite knowing what was going to happen (and watching much more graphic shows), it still surprised me. There’s a lot to unpack in this show and
And speaking of which, the series Escaping R. Kelly is truly chilling. After watching many shows about Scientology and other cults, I fully feel that he has that type of control over these girls and adult women.
For some slightly lighter viewing, one of my favorite Netflix shows, Friends from College, has released its second season. I love all of the actors and despite the negative reviews, I find it to be honest about the difficulty of maintaining friendships in later stages of life.
Loving
One of the best things I got for Christmas was a Luna weighted blanket. I’m a terrible sleeper, especially when it comes to falling asleep, so despite the adjustment period, I love my blanket. I also got a Himalayan salt lamp that now sits at my desk to add a bit of ambient light instead of a candle. I can’t yet speak to the alleged health effects.
Instead of continuing my membership at my coworking space, I joined a coworking group of ladies who also work remotely. We meet up every week at coffee shops and venues around town, mostly chatting in between sending emails.
Working
There’s no time for rest, even in the New Year. I already had a lot of work to do, especially for my regional clients, related to the Super Bowl, which is coming to Atlanta in a few weeks. I pitched a number of stories right before the holidays and in the last few weeks and even placed a few. I also am excited to have a story approved for a big publication that I have been working on since August!
I also had a successful second book signing with another one coming this weekend. I have two more book events scheduled for March in Memphis and Richmond, so if you’re interested in attending, visit my professional
website, CarolineEubanks.com, for more information. Speaking of my book, if you got a copy, please consider reviewing it on Amazon or Goodreads. See what else I’m working on via my Contently profile (and hire me!).
Traveling
I rang in the New Year with friends at Jackson Square in New Orleans after a fantastic dinner. My first few days of 2019 were exactly as I wanted, spent eating all the delicious food, visiting with one of my best pals, and exploring a city I loved. A week later, I spent a night in Athens, Georgia for a book signing and was able to fit in time at my favorite bar before heading home.
Tomorrow I leave for another book signing in Miami (assuming I can get through the understaffed airport!). I’ll then be home for two nights before turning right back around and flying to New York for a travel trade show. I look forward to catching up with fellow writer friends and eating dumplings. I’ll be bringing my sister along too!
