I’ve come to look forward to these monthly posts about what I’m into beyond travel because there’s so much more to my life than where I go, despite the fact that it’s something I love. It’s funny how many people respond with their obsessions or agree with mine! As with last month, I’m sharing the things I’m obsessed with at the moment. Thanks for following along! Be sure to share what you’re loving this month below!

Reading
After a few months of picking it up and putting it down, I finally finished Pure. It was hard to read at times but overall, I felt like it explained a lot of things I’d experienced growing up in the church. I also won a copy of The Magnetic Girl at Decatur Book Festival, which I’m excited to read.
There were so many there that I added to my list. And I finished the FINAL comic of The Walking Dead. I can’t believe it’s over! It felt a bit like the end of Game of Thrones but slightly more satisfying.

Listening
I’m mostly listening to what I’ve already subscribed to, but I tore through The Clearing after hearing so many recommendations for it. Similar to Happy Face, it follows the now-grown child of a serial killer. It felt very different because this woman didn’t seem to take on so much of the guilt as in Happy Face but rather did her best to track down all of the victims.
Watching
After some heavy days these past few months, I put some of the more intense shows on the back burner in favor of light fun. I watched the Hulu reboot of Four Weddings and a Funeral in a week and adored it. Maybe it’s because of my love of London but I adored the diversity and change of plot points. I also finally got on board with Big Little Lies after watching it on a plane.
Loving
After a hard few months, I’m finally experiencing some levity. I got to visit a friend for her birthday, caught up with people passing through my own city, and went out to a comedy show with some of my dearests. I stayed at a cool Airbnb in Atlanta‘s Summerhill neighborhood during the Decatur Book Festival and went to check out some of the restaurants over there.
I bought myself some much-needed blue light glasses and a new lens after I thought mine broke (it didn’t). I’ve enjoyed playing around with it as you can see from the header photo.
Working
I was so excited to get to speak at the Decatur Book Festival with so many incredible authors. I also published my first story with 10Best/USA Today on Chef Mashama Bailey and her picks for the best restaurants in Savannah.
But on the other hand, I’ve continued to struggle with work as one of my regular clients has gone almost radio silent. I have no idea if I’ll actually get that raise I negotiated or if I’ll get to keep that job at all. So I’m trying not to stress too much and instead focus my energy on applying for other jobs and sending out as many pitches as possible.

Traveling
So begins another crazy travel season. I’ve just returned from a weekend in Franklin, Tennessee, outside of Nashville, where I attended the incredible Pilgrimage Music Festival. Mark your calendars for next year! From there, I was home for a day before going to Virginia for a few days for a conference.
I got to spend some time in Richmond, one of my favorite cities, and hang out with friends. Then I had a few days off before going to my dear Golden Isles to finally stay at the Jekyll Island Club Resort.
Next up I’m heading to Mississippi, one of my favorite states, for a stay at a boutique hotel in the Delta. I’m looking forward to eating my weight in hot tamales and catfish. Then I’ll be heading to El Paso, Texas for the Society of American Travel Writers conference. Let’s hope November and December are calmer!
