I’ve come to look forward to these monthly posts about what I’m into beyond travel because there’s so much more to my life than where I go, despite the fact that it’s something I love. It’s funny how many people respond with their obsessions or agree with mine! As with last month, I’m sharing the things I’m obsessed with at the moment. Thanks for following along! Be sure to share what you’re loving this month below!

Reading
I’m still working through The Magnetic Girl. I know, I know. It’s been a while since I’ve set aside time to read. To see what else I’m reading, check out my Goodreads Profile here (which is also my author page!).
Listening
When visiting Amelia Island, I stopped in an antique store that was a treasure trove for old vinyl. Here I found two things I’d been looking for: a Motown Christmas album and Otis Blue/Otis Redding Sings Soul. The latter has some amazing covers, including “Satisfaction” and “Respect.”
I tore through a few podcasts this month on long drives, including Cold, Over My Dead Body (season 1), and Illegal Tender. I am currently looking for new ones to add to the roster. I’m currently listening to the smooth voice of Keith Morrison on The Thing About Pam.
Watching
I am both happy and sad about the new and final season of Schitt’s Creek, which comes out this week. The show has been so fun to watch when I’m feeling down. I also have started Derry Girls (with the subtitles on!) and am still working my way through The Crown. And for Christmas, I went to see Little Women and may have cried through it. It’s fantastic.
Loving
I got some lovely goodies for Christmas this year, including more than a few items for my new house (more on that soon). I got stuff for my kitchen like an immersion blender and a Nespresso, along with a croquet set for the yard. I’ve also been rocking a “Try a Little Tenderness” sweatshirt from the Otis Redding Foundation.
Working
I finished out the year by working on stories for USA Today, Diamond Resorts, and Fodors while also pitching new stories. I’ve already placed and submitted stories for Atlanta Magazine and Afar as well. I’ve also pitched half a dozen more that I hope to hear about soon.
I launched a Teachable course called Leveraging Your Travel Blog Into a Book. In this class, I share my tips on how to use your existing content and followers to create a sellable product. You can sign up for it here! And if you’re in the Atlanta area, I’m teaching a crash course in travel writing in February.

Traveling
In the last weeks before the holidays, I squeezed in trips to Ohio (new state!) and Florida with a brief stopover in Savannah. I was glad to spend Christmas and New Year’s Eve at home in Atlanta, despite enjoying the celebrations in New Orleans last year.
My calendar for 2020 is already booked through the spring and I’m very excited. First up is a trip to Charlotte to celebrate my friend’s 30th birthday. From there, I’ll be going back to New York City for a work conference and a few action-packed days of networking.
I can’t say for sure some of the exciting things coming this year, but I can hint that I’ll be going back to Louisiana, South Carolina, and Tennessee. I’m also spending two weeks at an artist residency to work on another book. I also have at least two new states on the docket! I can’t wait.
