Since the last time I wrote this post, the world fell apart. I haven’t had the drive to keep up with this blog lately but I’m doing my best to get back on track.
I’ve come to look forward to these monthly posts about what I’m into beyond travel because there’s so much more to my life than where I go, despite the fact that it’s something I love. It’s funny how many people respond with their obsessions or agree with mine! As with last month, I’m sharing the things I’m obsessed with at the moment. Thanks for following along! Be sure to share what you’re loving this month below!

Reading
Like so many of you, I’ve had plenty of time for reading lately. I’m almost done with American Prison, a book about a man that goes undercover as a guard at a Louisiana prison. I’ve got another lined up called God of the Rodeo, also about a Louisiana prison, that I’m halfway through.
To see what else I’m reading, check out my Goodreads Profile here (which is also my author page!).
Listening
My usual lineup of podcasts is on rotation but I recently added Conviction: Satanic Panic, which is the perfect follow up to the Uncover series about the similar events in Canada.
Watching
Much of my time has been spent binge-watching shows. I’ve already made my way through Tiger King (as bat-shit crazy as everyone says). I finished watching Love is Blind (I don’t watch dating shows usually so this is different). I also found one of my favorite guilty pleasures, The Challenge, on Pluto TV 24/7. I’m still watching The Staircase but haven’t been impressed so far. Any recommendations?
Loving
I’ve been keeping myself sane by scrapbooking my old travel photos. I just finished one from my 2017 Israel trip. Now I’ve ordered supplies and prints for scrapbooks of my 2018 Peru and 2019 South Africa trips. There’s something about working with my hands that helps calm me.
Working
I’m not going to lie. Things are looking grim. Apart from upcoming stories for Roadtrippers, Fodors, and Eagle Creek, I have no work to speak of. I’ve had so many projects and assignments either paused or outright canceled. My advertising for my other site is down over 80%. I’m looking at my options.
So if you’d like to help, there are a few ways. You can spend some time on This Is My South, my other website, which relies on traffic for advertising income. You can buy a copy of my book. Or you can sign up for one of my online writing classes.
If you’d like to see more of my work, visit my professional website, CarolineEubanks.com, for more information. If you got a copy of my book, please consider reviewing it on Amazon or Goodreads.
Traveling
Immediately after coming home from Louisiana, I left for Memphis to speak at an event with Priscilla Presley and my pal Kristin of Camels & Chocolate. I had a great time visiting again but tensions were already high due to coronavirus.
I ended up canceling my trip to South Carolina when things started to take a turn for the worse, followed by the cancelation of my writing retreat. Since then I’ve been mostly isolating at home and fielding emails about canceled trips to Mississippi, Buffalo, Oklahoma City, and Las Vegas.
So it’s safe to say that for now, I’m going nowhere. I’m still waiting to hear about a few things in the fall and am not booking anything currently for the rest of the year.
