We may be housebound for a while, thanks to the quarantine, despite some places opening up. But this is a great time to sort through years of travel photos, ticket stubs, and maps to create something to remind you of past adventures.

Currency Frames
If you’re like me, you have years worth of foreign currency in a shoebox, unsure of when you’ll use it again. I recently took some of the most colorful bills and framed them in a collage. I used washi tape so that if I wanted to switch them out in the future, it wouldn’t be difficult.
You can also do this with coins, but they require gluing using craft glue and a sturdy backing like cardboard. Or you can hot glue the coins onto magnets to decorate your refrigerator.
Fabric Transfers
Scan a copy of your favorite travel photo or ticket stub onto your computer. From there, you can print it out on special paper that can then be ironed onto fabric. You can then make a pillow out of it or get creative with a quilt collage of images.
Map Picture Frame Backing
I’ve also collected plenty of paper maps over the years. Since I mostly use apps on my phone, I decided to use the maps I no longer needed as backing for pictures that didn’t fully fit into frames.
It’s a useful method if you don’t want to pay for a custom frame for a non-standard shape or size of the picture. This was especially helpful for any postcards you may have picked up over the years.
Scrapbooks and Photo Books
If you have printed photos, you can buy a scrapbook from a craft store or online to include them with ticket stubs and other mementos. You can also journal about your experiences in each place and add colorful paper and stickers. I’ve made one for every major trip for the past decade.
But if all of your photos are online, you can create a photo book with an online company, which will print it for you. Companies like Shutterfly, Blurb, and Chatbooks have templates or you can lay out your book however you like. These companies also offer canvas prints of your favorite travel photos.
Ticket Stub Coasters
You can also decoupage ticket stubs from museums, flights, and other places onto coasters or other items. All you need is an item that you want to cover and a bottle of Mod Podge. It will require putting some on the back so it will stick before sealing it on the top.
If you’re not interested in coasters, you can use ticket stubs, maps, or photos to decoupage to the back of a shelf, on top of an existing picture frame, or really onto any surface.
I’ve also framed ticket stubs from the London Tube and my entry into Angkor Wat and colorful stamps as reminders of those trips.
