I can’t believe that my two weeks in Colombia are over! I had an incredible experience and my travels for the month aren’t over. Stay tuned for more on that soon!
In every monthly post, I like to share the articles I’m reading, the shows I’m watching, and the podcasts I’m listening to. They’ll remain free to read but there will continue to be affiliate links to recommended products to support site upkeep.
If you’re looking for a way to support my work, buy my book, read my articles, or sign up for my courses. Thanks again for following along! Be sure to share what you’re loving this month below!
This post contains affiliate links that can earn this website a small income. They will not cost you anything to use.
Reading
I finished reading Poster Child, which wasn’t exactly light reading but was necessary for a story. I quickly tore through Less, which I bought for $1 from my favorite store in Winston-Salem. Before I left, I read One to Watch, which is inspired by The Bachelorette.
While I was gone, I read I’m Glad My Mom Died, which is a tough read, but really important. I also downloaded Love in the Time of Cholera and Manhunters to read while I was traveling.

Watching
There hasn’t been much time for television, but I’ve been continuing TOWIE and The Bold Type as well as Mad Men and Gossip Girl on some flights.
Listening
As if my addiction to celebrity gossip wasn’t enough, I signed up for the Beyond the Blinds Patreon to hear about the most litigious folks in the sphere.
Loving
It was great to get back on the road and see some friends!
Working
I wrote about the term “poster child” for Mental Floss and my hobby of backyard mudlarking for Apartment Therapy. For Garden & Gun, I wrote about the history of the Art-O-Mat machines from Winston-Salem. I wrote about unique ways to experience fall foliage for The Points Guy.
For my first for Delish, I wrote about the scent technology on the Ratatouille ride at Walt Disney World. For InsideHook, I wrote about a Little Havana legend in Miami.
I have some really fun stories coming up about a cool bakery in Houston, an antiques spirit store in Kentucky, a guide to the lesser-known bourbon trail, pint-sized watering holes, Charleston beyond the tourist traps, and one of my favorite antiques store finds. I was even quoted in this story for Self!

Traveling
Since my last update, I’ve been to a number of places! I got to return to The Swag in Waynesville, North Carolina, this time with my sister Sammi! The entire property has been updated and is absolutely wonderful. Then I went to small town Wytheville, Virginia, which is full of charm. I spent two weeks in Colombia, including Cartagena, Medellin, Bogota, and Pasto. Stay tuned for posts on the beautiful country as well as the insane journey to get there!
