As you can tell, this month has been crazy as I’m just now getting around to this post. I’ve been working on some really incredible stories and traveling a lot.
In every monthly post, I like to share the articles I’m reading, the shows I’m watching, and the podcasts I’m listening to. They’ll remain free to read but there will continue to be affiliate links to recommended products to support site upkeep.
If you’re looking for a way to support my work, buy my book, read my articles, or sign up for my courses. Thanks again for following along! Be sure to share what you’re loving this month below!
This post contains affiliate links that can earn this website a small income. They will not cost you anything to use.
Reading
I’ll admit that I’ve made little progress with reading because I’ve been so slammed with work. I’m still working my way through Love in the Time of Cholera and Manhunters as well as three books for story research I bought secondhand on AbeBooks.
To see what else I’m reading, check out my Goodreads Profile here (which is also my author page!).
Watching
I loved the first season of the show, so I can’t wait to watch the new season of The White Lotus. Of course, this being spooky season, I’ve been watching many of my favorite spooky movies like The Craft, Practical Magic, and the OG Scream.
Listening
If you are looking for nostalgia from the early aughts, there’s plenty to find in new podcasts. I’ve been listening to Girls Next Level, hosted by two former Playmates from Girls Next Door, and the first episode of Back to the Beach, hosted by Kristin and Steven from Laguna Beach.
Loving
I’ve honestly enjoyed my time at home. As soon as I returned from Colombia, I went to a fun media event with writer pals and hosted a Mary Kate and Ashley movie marathon with friends. We also had friends in town for a Halloween party (where we dressed as characters from What We Do in the Shadows!).
I’m also obsessed with newest collectible, antique novelty decanters, and my first piece of art from Panhandle Slim. I’m also creating a gallery wall of my work at home using Framebridge!
Working
It’s been a great run of stories with InsideHook including a cool bakery in Houston, an antique spirit store in Kentucky, Charleston beyond the tourist traps, a guide to Amelia Island, and a Miami shop owner’s favorite books. For Girl Camper‘s latest issue, I wrote about a hammock campground in Tennessee.
For Conde Nast Traveler, I wrote a guide to the lesser-known bourbon trail. I penned my first story for The Washington Post about uranium glass and for CNN on my friend Brooke, who traveled with only a handbag. My first for AARP also ran, a road trip guide to Northwest Arkansas.
Coming up, expect to stories on the South’s pint-sized watering holes, an interview with plant experts about alternatives to peat moss, a cool Virginia Beach neighborhood, San Antonio beyond the Alamo, a violin maker in Louisiana, a charming town in Mississippi, a Veterans Day profile, a rails to trail line in Virginia, and a landmark in Georgia connected with conspiracy theories.
If you’d like to see more of my work, visit my professional website, CarolineEubanks.com, for more information. If you got a copy of my book, review it on Amazon or Goodreads. Or you can sign up for one of my online writing classes.
Traveling
Upon arriving back in the country, I went to Vail, Colorado for a travel writing conference, where I met with some editors and pitched stories. Then I got asked to go on a last-minute trip for a magazine to test drive a new VW car, driving from Nashville to Chattanooga.
I took a long-overdue trip to Roanoke, Virginia, followed by a too-short trip to Vermont (new state!) for meeting research. Next up, I’m off to Florida for a food festival, followed by two international work trips I’m thrilled about!
