Obviously, the past month or two has gotten out of control. I’m coordinating two conferences so that’s taken up a lot of my time, along with deadlines. But I’m here with updates!
In every monthly post, I like to share the articles I’m reading, the shows I’m watching, and the podcasts I’m listening to. They’ll remain free to read but there will continue to be affiliate links to recommended products to support site upkeep.
If you’re looking for a way to support my work, buy my book, read my articles, or sign up for my courses. Thanks again for following along! Be sure to share what you’re loving this month below!
This post contains affiliate links that can earn this website a small income. They will not cost you anything to use.
Reading
I’ve re-committed to reading in the past few months. I was definitely aided by a trip to Mexico where I didn’t have anything else going on. I finished reading The Secret History by Donna Tartt, which was excellent. I also tore through Jacqueline in Paris by Ann Mah, which was okay. Now I’m reading White Fragility by Robin DiAngelo.
To see what else I’m reading, check out my Goodreads Profile here (which is also my author page!).
Listening
I, like so many others, am obsessed with the new Miley Cyrus album. I think that every song is excellent, especially the collabs with Brandi Carlisle and Sia. I’ve also been listening to the new season of Beyond the Blinds, which indulges my love of celebrity gossip.
Watching
As you may have guessed, I had a lot of time to watch TV when recovering from surgery. I finished the new Gossip Girl and wished they had gotten one more season. I’ve since started the new season of Outer Banks, Daisy Jones and the Six, Vanderpump Rules (the Scandoval drama!), and The Challenge World Champs.
Loving
To keep myself from going crazy, I planned a few parties. We held a girls movie day, which was It Takes Two/Parent Trap themed. A few weeks later, I had a Mardi Gras party, complete with king cake, gumbo, and drinks. I’m also loving my new Everlane bag, a weekender size that fits perfectly over my suitcase.
Working
It’s been a very busy few months but here are a few recent favorites. For Conde Nast Traveler, I wrote about Franklin, Tennessee after pitching over a year ago. For Hemispheres, I wrote about Orlando’s charming Ivanhoe Village neighborhood.
For National Geographic Travel, I wrote about the Indigenous site in Macon, Georgia that will hopefully become a national park. For Plate, I profiled the work of St. Augustine chef Marcel Vizcarra. And for Garden & Gun, I wrote about places where you can catch and cook.

Traveling
At the end of January, I traveled to Natchitoches, Louisiana and New York City for work. But for all of February, I went nowhere as I recovered from foot surgery. I’m still on the mend, but doing much better now.
In March, I kicked off travels again, starting with a lovely but too-brief visit to Isla Holbox, Mexico. More on that soon! From there, I went to San Juan, Puerto Rico to do a site visit for a conference. I loved my last trip but I feel like I got to see more this time around. This week, I’m off to Vermont for another conference. In April, I’ll be sticking around the Southeast!
