I’ve come to look forward to these monthly posts about what I’m into beyond travel because there’s so much more to my life than where I go, despite the fact that it’s something I love. It’s funny how many people respond with their obsessions or agree with mine! As with last month, I’m sharing the things I’m obsessed with at the moment. Thanks for following along! Be sure to share what you’re loving this month below!

Reading
I haven’t had as much time to read lately as I’d like, but I’m slowly working through The Magnetic Girl. Hopefully, I’ll do better next month. To see what else I’m reading, check out my Goodreads Profile here (which is also my author page!).
Listening
This was a great month for podcasts. I recently discovered The Cut on Tuesdays, which is the type of journalism that I aspire to. And for some light listening, Dolly Parton’s America is everything I love about Dolly, The South, and feminism. Give it a listen! Gangster House is another interesting Atlanta story.
Watching
After watching the first episode of Big Little Lies on a flight, I tore through the first and second seasons. I really hope they decide to make another but I felt like the end was satisfying. The Walking Dead is back and the villains are even scarier. If you’re also a fan, follow me on Twitter during episodes when I share my many thoughts.
Loving
I would usually categorize this under my working section but it’s been a much-needed boost during a tough time with my career. At the SATW conference, I won TWO Lowell Thomas awards, the top honor in my field, for my book and my other website. I’ve lost a lot of work lately and have really been struggling financially so it felt like it was all worth it.
Working
Last month was a really tough one financially so I’m doing my best to hustle to get more work done. I recently worked on stories for Frommer’s, Diamond Resorts, USA Today 10 Best, and Eagle Creek. I’m also doing NaNoWriMo this month! I was looking for a creative fiction project and the timing was perfect.
I also just launched a Teachable course called Leveraging Your Travel Blog Into a Book. In this class, I share my tips on how to use your existing content and followers to create a sellable product. You can sign up for it here!

Traveling
It was a very busy month for travel, starting with a stay on Jekyll Island followed a day or so later by a trip to the Mississippi Delta. I had a lovely stay at the Cotton House Hotel in Cleveland. From there, I spent a much-needed week at home before going to El Paso for the SATW conference. I also got to cross the border into Juarez, which was really interesting.
This week, I’m headed back to Austin for the Mediavine conference. It’s a company that runs the advertisements on my other website and has great information on running websites. Then I’ll go back to Orlando to update guides to Universal Orlando Resort and Walt Disney World. I can’t wait to stay at new hotels and visit the Star Wars area!
