I’ve come to look forward to these monthly posts about what I’m into beyond travel because there’s so much more to my life than where I go, despite the fact that it’s something I love. It’s funny how many people respond with their obsessions or agree with mine! As with last month, I’m sharing the things I’m obsessed with at the moment. Thanks for following along! Be sure to share what you’re loving this month below!

Reading
After listening to an interview with the author, who studies behavioral science, I’m almost done reading How to Not Die Alone. I’ve read a fair few dating books and I feel like this one has actual helpful information.
I’ve also been reading Gift of the Sea, which I was given a copy of when I visited the Fort Myers area a few years back. It was written by the wife of Charles Lindbergh, a writer in her own right, and was penned from a shack on the coast, my dream scenario.
To see what else I’m reading, check out my Goodreads Profile here (which is also my author page!).
Listening
It’s been a slow podcast month because not many new ones came out but I did listen to Power, about Chappaquiddick and the Kennedys, Welcome To Your Fantasy, about the Chippendales, and Mommy Doomsday, about the crazy Mormon cult lady that killed her kids. And at the end of the day, I love listening to the Dinner Party playlist on Spotify.
Watching
I’m trying to start watching the stuff on my lists for the different streaming platforms instead of watching something I’ve already seen and it’s been a real undertaking.
First up was Peaky Blinders, which I became OBSESSED with. I probably watched all five seasons in a matter of weeks. Next up is Ted Lasso, which I adore. It’s wholesome and funny and set in London. Now I’m onto Godless, a Western series about a town run by women.

My family is finally getting vaccinated! It’s such a relief to be finally moving out of phase 1a. My mom is a longtime teacher who got COVID this time last year before she knew what it was. She’s scheduled for this week. I also drove my grandmother to get her second shot near her hometown. Now just to get my dad vaccinated.
I’ve also been trying new restaurants near my house including Cuban, Mexican, Thai, and Chinese. I’m still cooking a lot including pretzel dogs (why not?), breakfast burritos, and roasted chicken thighs. All possible meals are spent on the patio.
We also finally picked up the ashes of my late dog, who died a few years back. The vet moved and then my parents never answered the phone so I drove over there and picked up the box. We now found her a nice spot in the backyard.
Working
I’ve been working on two long-term stories that have taken up more time than I initially expected. I’ve been doing rewrites on both and I hope that they run in April.
Because of that, I haven’t taken on much more work in the meantime. But a few stories recently came out. For Roadtrippers, I talked about attending a Cajun Mardi Gras celebration last year. For Simply Buckhead, I reminisced about a pre-pandemic trip to Wilmington, North Carolina.
A story I pitched two years ago and wrote early in the pandemic has also finally run. I wrote about my favorite foodie neighborhood in Savannah for 10Best.

Traveling
It’s crazy to believe that this time last year, I was getting on a plane for what would be the last time in a year, coming home from Memphis. Masks were starting to be worn in airports but I had no idea what was coming.
Since then, I’ve taken a handful of trips, all by car and all as carefully as I could. All were for work or a combination of work and leisure. Now I’m finally starting to think about future trips, still around the region.
This month, I went on a day trip to Blue Ridge in North Georgia to interview someone for a story and it was so nice to feel like I was traveling again. As of this writing, I’ll be on a plane for a short trip that I’ll write about more soon.
